This song is used to signify the toxic relationship that exists between two individuals. Novocaine primarily is a drug used to numb the areas around the teeth to reduce inflation and pain.

He is tired of this toxic relationship. He says he doesn’t want to fall in love and go through various emotions. He misses her but she isn’t happy. He reminisces about the past and his mind is filled about her. He wants to break free but he can’t. His mind doesn’t let him. Hence, he wants to break free from this pain by taking a shot but this would only cover up the pain for a short period of time.

She is described as a poison which has affected him. He feels used, his precious time wasted on someone who is not worthy of his love and rays of regrets fill him up.
