Free Expression

I did want to watch this particular movie because of the amount of rising criticisms that were raised regarding the theme and how it should not be screened in the theatres . It did light a small amount of curiosity in me and I did plan to write a review about it . However ,  I would abide by the rule that it is improper to comment about a film before seeing it .

"As much as we protect free speech, you cannot vilify a community”, said Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. The bench was created to administer the ban bought in by the West Bengal government on this movie. Today the headlines read as “SC lifts Bengal ban on The Kerala Story”. I do support this decision.

A movie created envisions the artistic capabilities of individuals who have put in lot of work to make that story in their mind into something that the audience could ponder upon.

We all have different perspectives of a particular scenario and the perspective offered by a cinema crew is to be respected. However, if we were to alter our perspective in light of that movie, it ultimately falls upon ourselves. It may produce the right image for some but may produce a false allegation for many.

“Pm Narendra Modi” stared by Vivek Oberoi, “Trance” by Fahadh Faasil , “Kashmiri Files” , “ India: The Modi Question",  a  two-part documentary series aired by BBC Two, what does all these movies have in common?

They target a particular person or certain sections of the society. Consequently, I pose a query to the readers.

Is it OK to reject these films , voice our criticisms and diminish the views of certain individuals  or should we uphold the convictions we have developed based on our own studies , life experiences and respect each others views ? Which do u think is the best approach?
